The two technologies complement each other. A UPS provides continuous, clean power with effectively zero transfer time, protecting sensitive equipment from even momentary interruptions and from sags and surges. A diesel generator, by contrast, takes a short time to start and stabilise — typically twenty to thirty seconds — but can then run for hours or days.
